Job summary

The South Carolina DMV is hiring a License Examiner II for the Greenville DMV Branch Office. You will administer road tests for multiple classes, conduct knowledge and skill evaluations, and verify documents for licenses, permits and registrations.

The role emphasizes professional communication, customer service, and the ability to work outdoors and in a climate-controlled office. A high school diploma and SC driver's license are required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Valid South Carolina driver's license and at least 21 years old with one year driving experience.
• Must pass a nationwide criminal background check including fingerprinting.
• Before certifying to administer CDL knowledge tests, complete a CDL trainer course and exam.

Responsibilities

• Administers road tests for multiple vehicle classes (A–M) at the office or on the road.
• Administers written, oral and automated exams; conducts pre-trip inspections.
• Processes license and permit documents; handles registrations and titles.
• Answers inquiries; greets customers and directs them to the proper area.
• Collects fees and donations; reconciles daily reports and processes deposits.
• Performs maintenance on equipment; handles mail, faxes, and errands.
