Job summary

City of Caldwell (ID) is seeking Road Technician I or Road Technician II to join the Street Department. The role involves manual labor and operating a variety of equipment to construct, repair and maintain streets, curbs, sidewalks and drainage systems.

Incumbents may train for promotion to Road Tech II within 8 to 12 months, with on-the-job learning under supervision. CDL and Tanker endorsement progress are part of the career path; duties include outdoor work in varying weather and field

Qualifications

• One year of work experience operating light and medium equipment.
• Two years of work experience for Road Technician II; six months as Road Tech I qualifies.
• Valid Idaho driver’s license and State of Idaho Class A CDL with Tanker Endorsement.
• Flagger certification, CPR, and First Aid certifications preferred.

Responsibilities

• Removes worn asphalt and debris with hand or power tools.
• Repairs underlay/roadbed and patches to grade; seals asphalt and concrete infrastructures.
• Operates equipment for maintenance of streets, curbs, sidewalks and drainage systems.
• Maintains and cleans tools, equipment and work sites.
• Communicates progress and coordinates with supervisor for safety and efficiency.
