Job summary

Bobcat of Boston is seeking a field service technician to perform routine maintenance and repair on customer equipment across MA. The role requires traveling daily, completing work within promised timeframes, and coordinating with the service writer on orders.

The ideal candidate has 2–3 years in equipment maintenance, a valid MA driver’s license, and the ability to pass DOT checks. We offer comprehensive health benefits, a 401(k) match, and generous PTO.

Qualifications

• 2-3 years experience with equipment maintenance and repair (road service preferred)
• Ability to travel daily locally within MA
• Must be 21+ with valid driver's license and clean record
• DOT drug test, DOT physical and medical card required
• Criminal background screening satisfactory
• Operate compact construction equipment proficiently
• Knowledge of DOT regulations
• Proficiency with a computer

Responsibilities

• Travel to customer sites daily in MA to perform routine maintenance and service
• Complete service within estimated timeframes and communicate delays
• Collaborate with Service Writer to write up work orders
• Maintain paperwork, truck inventory and billing
• Attend Bobcat University trainings and maintain qualifications
• Document time and materials used for assigned tasks

Job Responsibilities

• Travel to customer sites daily generally in MA to perform routine maintenance and service on customer equipment.
• Complete service in the estimated time frames communicated to customers.
• Notify manager of additional work needed or any delays in expected completion.
• Collaborate with Service Writer to provide information and details when writing up work orders.
• Complete all required paperwork, truck inventory and billing.
• Maintain technical qualification by completing any necessary training programs including attending Bobcat University.
• Account for and document all time and for all materials used in performing assigned duties.
• Maintain a clean and safe work vehicle to complete assigned work within the established guidelines.
• Maintain the condition of company vehicles, inventory, equipment and tools.
• Attend safety training, comply with and maintain full understanding of State and federal regulations.
• Perform daily safety and maintenance checks.
• Secure construction equipment and other equipment, by means of chaining, strapping, and blocking.
• Perform routine inspection and preventive maintenance on assigned road service vehicle and equipment.

Requirements

Some essentials to be qualified

• 2-3 years experience with equipment maintenance and repair experience, road service preferred, not required
• Ability to travel daily locally within MA.
• Must be 21 years old, have a current driver’s license in good standing, a clean driving record and solid work history.
• Must be able to pass DOT drug test and DOT physical and obtain medical card.
• Must have satisfactory results of a criminal background screening.
• Must be competent at operating compact construction equipment.
• Ability to apply knowledge of DOT regulations.
• Possess a complete set of basic mechanic hand tools.
• Proficiency with a computer.
• Must demonstrate integrity, adaptability and a strong customer service focus.

• Highly Sought After Schedule: Monday – Friday, 7:30 am – 4:30 pm! No weekends!
• Work Location: Bobcat of Boston, 20 Concord Street, North Reading, MA
• All of Our Locations: Bobcat of New Hampshire (Chichester, NH and Hudson, NH), Bobcat of Cape Cod (Bourne, MA), Bobcat of South Shore (Bridgewater, MA) and Bobcat of Boston (North Reading, MA)
• Pay: $26-$38/ hour (42.5-hour workweek) (entry-level through advanced encouraged to apply). Remember, great benefits are also part of your total compensation.
• Benefits enrollment is first of month following 30 days of employment.
• Benefits: Health Insurance (100% company paid for Employee, 50% for 2-Person and Family coverage), Health Reimbursement Account with generous company contribution toward deductible, Dental (75% company paid), Life Insurance (100% company paid), Vision (100% employee paid), 401(k) Retirement Plan with generous 100% match up to 4% of annual salary.
