Job summary

The Grand Traverse County Road Commission in Traverse City, Michigan, is seeking a Project Engineer to join our engineering team. This role involves design, bidding, construction, and closeout with on-site collaboration with contractors and crews.

The ideal candidate holds a Civil Engineering degree and a MI PE license (or is able to obtain one within a year). Experience in road design/construction is required, and travel is limited to within the county.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent.
• Must have or be able to obtain a MI PE license within 1 year of hire.
• Previous road design and/or road construction experience required.
• Civic-minded with interest in community and road system safety.

Responsibilities

• Assist in all phases of project delivery: design, bidding, construction and closeout.
• Work on design plans and field construction activities; coordinate with contractors and crews.
• Support project milestones, schedules and budgets for Grand Traverse County projects.
• Limited travel within Grand Traverse County for education and conferences.
