Job summary

The Grand Traverse County Road Commission in Traverse City, Michigan, is seeking a Project Engineer to join our engineering team. This role involves design, bidding, construction, and closeout with on-site collaboration with contractors and crews.

The ideal candidate holds a Civil Engineering degree and a MI PE license (or is able to obtain one within a year). Experience in road design/construction is required, and travel is limited to within the county.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent.
• Must have or be able to obtain a MI PE license within 1 year of hire.
• Previous road design and/or road construction experience required.
• Civic-minded with interest in community and road system safety.

Responsibilities

• Assist in all phases of project delivery: design, bidding, construction and closeout.
• Work on design plans and field construction activities; coordinate with contractors and crews.
• Support project milestones, schedules and budgets for Grand Traverse County projects.
• Limited travel within Grand Traverse County for education and conferences.

The time is right to work for The Grand Traverse County Road Commission in beautiful Traverse City, Michigan!

We are seeking a ProjectEngineer to join our Traverse City-based engineering team. We are looking for someone who is civic-minded, wants to make a difference in our community, and wants to be part of our mission to maintain a safe & efficient road system.

Ideally, we would like to find an experienced civil engineer who not only enjoys the design phase of construction but also enjoys being out on job sites, working with contractors and the crew. The project engineer will assist in all phases of project delivery, including design, bidding, construction, and closeout.

Work is within Grand Traverse County, with limited travel outside of the county for education and conferences.

The ideal candidate will possess a bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or the equivalent. Previous experience in road design and/or road construction is required. This role requires that the individual either possess a PE (Professional Engineer) license in Michigan and/or be able to obtain one within 1 year of hire.
