Placements24 seeks a Civil Engineer specializing in road and pavement design to join our client in Upington, Northern Cape. You will perform geometric road design, pavement analysis, drainage planning, and contribute to tender documentation with CAD tools.

The role requires a Bachelor's in Civil Engineering and 5+ years of experience, with knowledge of SANRAL/DOT standards. Relocation to Upington and a valid driver's license are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering.
• 5+ years of experience in road and pavement design.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D, Civil Designer, and pavement design software.
• Good knowledge of road construction materials and methods.
• Familiarity with South African design standards (SANRAL/DOT).
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; good communication and report-writing.
• Based in or willing to relocate to Upington, Northern Cape.
• Valid driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Perform geometric design of rural and urban roads, including alignments and intersections.
• Assess pavement condition and design new or rehabilitated pavement structures.
• Develop road drainage designs including culverts and stormwater systems.
• Prepare detailed design reports, specifications, and construction drawings using CAD.
• Assist in tender documentation and Bills of Quantities.
• Coordinate with structural and geotechnical engineers.
• Provide technical support during construction including site inspections.
• Ensure compliance with SANRAL and DOT standards.
• Participate in project planning and client liaison.
• Mentor junior engineers on road design projects.
