Job summary

The Matanuska-Susitna Borough seeks a maintenance worker to participate in the repair and maintenance of Borough roads and streets. Work is performed in accordance with Borough policies and core values: Accountability, Customer Focus, Dedication, Integrity, Responsiveness and Teamwork.

Requirements include a high school diploma or equivalent, at least one year of related experience, a valid Alaska driver's license for the vehicle operated, and the ability to pass pre-employment checks.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• At least one year of related experience.
• Valid Alaska driver’s license for the vehicle type.
• Must be 19+ and pass pre-employment background check, drug screen, and physical.

Responsibilities

• Assists with repairs and installs street signs.
• Operate steam boiler to thaw culverts; repair/replace culverts.
• Conduct road striping operations.
• Operate pumps to alleviate flooding.
• Operate brushing equipment; remove trees from roadways.
• May operate street sweeping equipment.
• Operate snow removal and plowing equipment.
• Assist with repairs of asphalt and gravel surfaces.
• Install traffic control devices and flag traffic at worksites.
• Transport tools and supplies to worksites.
• Performs preventative maintenance of vehicles and equipment.
• Performs related duties.
