Job summary

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Assists with repairs and installs street signs.

• Operate brushing equipment; remove trees from roadways.
• May operate street sweeping equipment.
• Operate snow removal and plowing equipment.
• Assist with repairs of asphalt and gravel surfaces.
• Install traffic control devices and flag traffic at worksites.
• Transport tools and supplies to worksites.
• Performs preventative maintenance of vehicles and equipment.
• Performs related duties.

Job description

This position participates in the repair and maintenance of Borough roads and streets.

E1 - DOE

High School diploma or equivalent.

One (1) year of experience in a similar position, sufficient to understand the basic principles relevant to the major duties of the position.

Relevant experiences and skills may include: experience applying stickers to aluminum and riveting metals together. Experience using landscaping hand tools. Experience using hand power tools. Experience operating a variety of vehicles and equipment. Experience working outside in harsh conditions Experience using mobile computers for data collection. Experience in general labor or assisting someone with projects. Experience in general safety. Experience working on a team.

Possession of a valid driver’s license issued by the State of Alaska for the type of vehicle or equipment operated. Must be at least 19 years of age with one (1) year of driving experience. Must successfully pass a pre-employment background check, drug screen, and physical.
