Job summary

DuPage County’s Division of Transportation seeks a Laborer to support roadway maintenance and shop tasks. Responsibilities include mowing, brush chipping, traffic control and operating a range of equipment such as pickups, forklifts, Bobcats, and snowplows.

A High School Diploma or GED is required, plus a valid IL driver’s license. CDL within six months of hire is expected, with assistance provided. Benefit package includes medical, dental, vision, and more.

Qualifications

• Must have a High School Diploma or GED.
• Valid Illinois Driver’s License required.
• Ability to obtain a CDL within six (6) months of hire (assistance provided).
• Preferred: experience in minor engine repair and road maintenance.
• Must be able to work independently and maintain a detail-oriented approach.

Responsibilities

• Roadway duties such as mowing, brush chipping, shoveling, raking, sweeping and traffic control.
• Operate pickup truck, forklift, Bobcat, and other roadway equipment.
• Operate a tandem axle snowplow.
• Shop tasks like cleaning, maintenance and replacing light bulbs.
• Track and update inventory, receive deliveries, restock supplies.
