Job summary

Horry County is seeking a Heavy Equipment Operator II to support road maintenance and drainage improvements. You will operate backhoe, loader, and other equipment, perform grade work, patch asphalt, and haul materials while following safety protocols.

Under supervision, you will perform routine maintenance, receive and complete work orders, and assist with seasonal tasks. A valid Class D license is required and 1–3 years of experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• Requires a high school diploma or equivalent.
• 1–3 years of experience operating heavy equipment or related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Responsibilities

• Operates heavy machinery to perform road construction and maintenance tasks such as grading, ditching, and material transport.
• Completes routine maintenance inspections on vehicles and equipment.
• Receives work orders and completes tasks in a timely manner under supervision.
• Performs duties like laying blocks, paving shoulders, and other seasonal tasks as directed.
• Maintains safety and communicates effectively with crew members.
