Job summary

County of Humboldt is seeking a skilled road maintenance worker II to operate and maintain a range of heavy construction equipment used in road repair and maintenance projects.

The position requires two years of journey-level experience in road maintenance, a valid California driver’s license, and the ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions, including overtime during emergencies. Training may be provided as needed.

Qualifications

• Two years of journey-level road maintenance experience.
• Ability to read blueprints and cut sheets.
• Strong knowledge of safe work practices and equipment safety.

Responsibilities

• Operate a variety of heavy construction equipment including gradalls, graders, dozers, rollers, and loaders.
• Set up, operate, maintain and repair crusher equipment and monitor crush operations.
• Inspect equipment and perform preventive maintenance; report needed repairs.
• Excavate, backfill, grade, and roll construction sites; load materials and supplies.
• Direct or assist a crew as assigned; respond to emergencies as needed.
