Caltrans is seeking a Highway Maintenance Worker to operate Category 1 and 2 equipment, perform maintenance tasks on highways, and work with crews or independently under supervision. The role requires overtime, nights, and weekend work for storms and special projects.

Operators will use end-dump trucks (2–10 cu yd) with automatic or manual transmission, snowplows, sanders, and may run front-end loaders and other related vehicles while performing tasks across various sites.

Qualifications

• Overtime, nights, and weekends may be required.
• Operate end-dump trucks (2–10 cu yd) with automatic or manual transmission, equipped with snowplows and sanders.
• May operate front-end loaders, motor graders, snow blowers, trailers and other related vehicles.

Responsabilités

• Perform highway maintenance tasks such as paving, shoulder grading, mowing, ditch cleaning, dig outs, patching, and maintenance of signs, fences, guardrails, culverts and traffic control.
• Assist with litter pick up and maintenance of roadside rest areas and state facilities.
• Work as part of a crew or individually under a Maintenance Supervisor.
