Job summary

Caltrans is seeking a Highway Maintenance Worker to operate Category 1 and 2 equipment for assigned units in California. The role may require night and weekend shifts, overtime, and working with or without crew support.

Responsibilities include paving, mowing, ditch cleaning, sign and fence work, and maintenance of rest areas and state facilities at Weaverville and Trinity Center locations. Incumbents may work up to 1,500 hours per year, with schedules based on departmental needs.

Qualifications

• Experience operating highway maintenance equipment.
• Willing to work overtime, nights and weekends.
• Duties include paving, shoulder grading, mowing, ditch cleaning and sign repair.

Responsibilities

• Operate end-dump trucks and other listed equipment.
• Perform roadside maintenance and repair state facilities.
• Work with crews or independently as required.
