Job summary

Caltrans in Tulelake, CA is seeking a highway maintenance worker to operate Category 1 and 2 equipment, performing paving, mowing, ditch cleaning, patching and other roadside tasks under the supervision of a Maintenance Supervisor.

The role may require overtime, nights and weekends and may be filled as a permanent intermittent position with up to 1,500 hours per year depending on department needs.

Responsibilities

• Operate Category 1 and Category 2 highway maintenance equipment as assigned.
• Perform tasks such as paving, shoulder grading, mowing, ditch cleaning, patching, and repair of markers, signs, fences, guardrails, culverts, and related duties.
• Work with crews under the supervision of a Maintenance Supervisor; overtime, nights, and weekends may be required.
• Permanent intermittent position may reach up to 1,500 hours in any 12-month period depending on departmental needs.
