Job summary

The South Carolina Department of Transportation seeks a crew foreman to supervise road maintenance crews performing patching, repairs, drainage work, piping and paving.

This role requires a valid operator’s license, and attainment of a Class A Commercial Driver’s License within six months of placement. The foreman will plan daily work, assign tasks, oversee equipment use, and ensure safety and record-keeping across maintenance activities.

Qualifications

• Three and one-half (3.5) years of related work experience or equivalent.
• Valid motor vehicle operator’s license is required.
• Must attain Class A CDL within six months of placement.
• Physical demands include bending, lifting up to 50 lbs, and working near traffic.

Responsibilities

• Supervise crew in road maintenance activities including patching and full depth repair.
• Plan schedules, assign tasks, and monitor safety and quality.
• Coordinate safety practices, traffic control, and input data into HMMS.
