Job summary

The South Carolina Department of Transportation seeks a supervisor to plan, direct, and evaluate the activities of highway maintenance crews and their mechanical resources, including backhoes, excavators, loaders, road patchers and trucks.

You will oversee safety, training, CDL compliance, fleet programs, and documentation in HMMS, coordinate emergency work, and ensure adherence to state standards.

Qualifications

• Three and a half years of related work experience.
• A valid motor vehicle operator's license is required.
• CDL must be attained within six months of placement.

Responsibilities

• Plans, supervises, directs, evaluates and manages highway maintenance crews and mechanical resources.
• Coaches, counsels and trains employees; ensures safe operation and compliance with policies.
• Documents activities in HMMS daily and communicates with superiors and peers.
• Responds to work requests within 14 days with corrective plans.
• Oversees safety, traffic control, and fleet maintenance; supports hurricane/ice plans and emergencies.
