Job summary

Woodbury County is seeking a skilled equipment operator to safely operate a range of heavy and light machinery used in the maintenance of County Secondary Roads. The role requires adherence to state and county standards and attention to safety and efficiency.

The position involves performing general road maintenance, weather-related snow removal, and routine equipment servicing. A valid Iowa Commercial Driver's License and background checks are prerequisites; attendance is required.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of and ability to operate a variety of heavy and light equipment including scrapers, motor graders, bulldozers, front end loaders, backhoes and trucks.
• Knowledge of equipment maintenance specifications and ability to perform required maintenance.
• Knowledge of safety standards relative to scope of responsibilities.
• Practical knowledge of reading and interpreting grade stakes and blueprints.

Responsibilities

• Operate scrapers, motor graders, bulldozers, end loaders, backhoes and trucks for County Secondary Roads construction and maintenance.
• Perform general road maintenance including snowplowing, road sanding, brush removal and related tasks.
• Conduct routine maintenance on equipment (lubrication, oil changes, checks) and ensure safety of operating parts.
• Attendance is required.
