Job summary

Greenwood County is seeking a team-oriented Heavy Equipment Operator to join the road crew. The role involves operating backhoes, loaders, bulldozers, graders, and other machinery to build and repair roads and drainage systems.

Requirements include a High School diploma or GED, valid CDL Class A, and at least two years of heavy equipment experience. A physical and an equipment skills assessment are required, with preferred readiness for 10-hour shifts Monday-Thursday.

Qualifications

• High School graduate or GED equivalent.
• Two years of heavy equipment operation experience or equivalent.
• Valid Class A SC Commercial Driver’s License (CDL).
• Physically able to operate a variety of heavy equipment including motor grader, tractor, backhoe, and related tools.

Responsibilities

• Operate heavy machinery such as backhoe, front end loader, bulldozer, motor grader, and vehicles.
• Perform maintenance inspections and report service needs to supervisor.
• Assist with traffic control, site setup, and signage for safety.
• Transport equipment to job sites safely and efficiently.
• Complete assigned road maintenance and construction tasks per work orders.
