Orion Engineers, PLLC is seeking a dynamic Materials Coordinator focused on infrastructure and transportation projects to manage materials QA/QC, sampling, testing, and documentation per IDOT standards. The role ensures accurate pay quantities and timely project closeout, working across office and field environments.

The candidate will maintain test reports, certifications, and supplier qualifications while coordinating with Engineers, QA teams, and field personnel.

Qualifications

• 2+ years in construction materials coordination or documentation for highway/bridge work.
• Working knowledge of IDOT Standard Specifications for Road and Bridge Construction.
• Illinois Certified Technician credentials (PCC Level I/II, HMA Level I/II, Aggregate Technician, S-33 Soils) or ability to obtain.
• Proficiency with Excel and document management tools.
• Strong written communication and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Review contract plans, special provisions, and IDOT specs to identify material requirements.
• Track material approvals against IDOT qualified sources and lists.
• Maintain materials documentation in IDOT systems, including test reports and certifications.
• Review submittals, mix designs, and shop drawings for completeness and conformance.
• Schedule and coordinate QC/QA sampling and testing with various teams and labs.
• Monitor testing results and track corrective actions and re-tests.
• Verify delivered/installed quantities and document monthly pay estimates.
• Maintain the materials certification log and monitor certifications expiration.
• Prepare periodic reports on materials status and non-conforming material.
• Assemble final materials records for project closeout and audit.
