Job summary

AECOM is seeking a Mid-Level Construction Inspector to support transportation projects in the Chicago area. You will perform field and laboratory testing of construction materials, monitor compliance with plans, and document test results across IDOT, CDOT, and local projects.

The role emphasizes field operations, quality control, and coordination with inspectors, engineers, and contractors. A valid driver’s license and ability to work outdoors in varying weather are required.

Qualifications

• BA/BS in Civil Engineering or related field.
• Excellent field inspection and testing skills.
• Strong documentation and communication abilities.

Responsibilities

• Perform field and laboratory testing of construction materials such as concrete, asphalt, aggregate, soil.
• Support quality control activities for roadway, bridge, structural projects.
• Maintain testing records, inspection reports, sample logs and project documentation.
• Coordinate testing schedules with inspectors, engineers, and contractors.
• Assist with QA/QC activities and closeout documentation on projects.
