Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED; 1 year as Road Maintenance Worker II with Mendocino County or 2 years related experience such as construction, landscaping, land clearing, or other work requiring a Class B license.
• Valid CA Class B Commercial Driver's License (Manual Transmission), with Air Brake and Tanker Endorsements.
• Incumbents may need to pass a background check for inmate crew supervision.

Responsibilities

• Operate light to heavy equipment and related vehicles to perform essential functions.
• Conduct maintenance and safety checks; refuel, grease, and inspect oil and fluids.
• Maintain logs/records on equipment use, maintenance, accidents, and inventories.
• Perform maintenance at County landfills and ensure site safety and security.
• Potentially supervise an inmate work crew and lead briefly in supervisor's absence.
• Assist in preparing monthly inventories and maintain equipment records.
• Perform duties related to road or bridge maintenance as assigned.
