Job summary

Adventist Health Sierra Vista in San Luis Obispo, CA seeks a Registered Nurse First Assist (RNFA) to support the surgeon intraoperatively in the first assistant role, within credentialing privileges.

The RNFA must have an AS degree or equivalent, RN licensure, and completion of an RNFA course; CNOR is preferred. Three years OR RN experience and credentialing readiness are required. This is a staff, full-time position with a CNA representation.

Qualifications

• Associate Degree (A.S.) or equivalent is required.
• Bachelor's Degree in Nursing is preferred.
• Successful completion of an RNFA course is required.
• Three years of experience as a Registered Nurse in the Operating Room is required.
• Start credentialing process through Medical Staff upon acceptance of position is required.

Responsibilities

• Assists the surgeon in the first assistant role, as defined by privileges and credentialing.
• RNFA can act only as the RNFA, not a scrub or circulating RN, during a surgical procedure.
• Is competent to provide exposure of the surgical wound intraoperatively under the surgeon's supervision.
• Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
