Job summary

WK Medical Center in Shreveport, LA is seeking a dedicated Wound Care Nurse (RN) to provide expert wound assessment, treatment, and patient education on a full-time day schedule. The role emphasizes clinical excellence, patient-centered care, and collaboration with physicians, therapists, and dietitians.

The ideal candidate will have an RN license, wound care experience, and a willingness to pursue WCC/CWON/CWCN certification.

Qualifications

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license.
• Experience in wound care, medical-surgical nursing, or related clinical specialty preferred.
• Wound Care Certification (WCC, CWON, CWCN, or equivalent) preferred or willingness to obtain certification.

Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive wound assessments and document wounds, pressure injuries, ostomies, and skin integrity.
• Provide evidence-based wound care treatments and dressing selections.
• Educate patients and families on wound prevention, treatment plans, nutrition and self-care.
• Serve as a wound care resource for nursing staff and providers on best practices in skin and wound management.
• Collaborate with physicians, therapists, dietitians, and nursing staff to coordinate care.
• Lead pressure injury prevention programs and skin care initiatives.
• Ensure accurate documentation and compliance with regulatory standards.

Your Role as a Wound Care Nurse:
