Job summary

Willis-Knighton Pierremont is seeking an experienced RN for the Wound Ostomy Nurse (WOCN) role. The WOCN provides advanced care in wounds and ostomies, serves as a care consultant, assesses patients, and collaborates with the medical team to create care plans. Education to patients, families, and staff is included.

Responsibilities include reducing hospital-acquired pressure injuries, updating policies with staff, and staying current on wound/ostomy treatment trends and supplies.

Qualifications

• Two years wound care experience preferred.
• Graduate of Wound, Ostomy, Continence Nursing (WOCN) Educational Program with current WOCN specialty board certification OR pursuit of certification within the first year.

Willis-Knighton Pierremont is seeking an experienced RN for the position of Wound/Ostomy Nurse (WOCN). The WOCN provides high-level, evidence-based care in the areas of wound and ostomy care. The typical duties of the WOCN include serving as a care consultant and provider for patients with wounds and ostomies; providing assessments of patients and collaborating with the medical team to develop plans of care; providing wound and ostomy education to patients, their families, and staff; developing plans and protocols to reduce the incidence of hospital acquired pressure injuries; working with staff and quality officers to keep policies and procedures current; staying abreast of supplies and treatment trends regarding wound and ostomy care.

Requirements:

• Two years wound care experience preferred
• Graduate of Wound, Ostomy, Continence Nursing (WOCN) Educational Program with current WOCN specialty board certification OR pursuit of certification in WOCN, CWS, or WCC within the first year.
