Principle Accountabilities for a Wellness Nurse
- Team-oriented individual who enjoys working collaboratively with others, creating a positive and uplifting environment, and communicating very effectively at all levels
- Able to respond quickly and appropriately to emergency situations
- Experience working in assisted living, home care or long-term care environment preferred
- Licensed in the state of Illinois as an RN
- CPR certification
- Strong communication skills in English
- Ability to work independently, as well as a team member, with a positive, proactive attitude
- Adaptable to change and new tasks
- Follows all policies and procedures of The Garlands
Qualifications
- Coordinate annual flu clinics for Members
- Set up and administer flu shots via flu clinics to Team Members
- Administer TB Skin test for all new GOB Team Members and annual testing as needed
- Check vitals for Members upon request within the center or home
- Respond to all emergencies during hours nurse is present in the building (e.g., falls, illnesses, first aid, injuries). Services include Members and Team Members
- Perform wound care/dressing changes or special procedures (e.g., tube drainage) for Members within center or home
- Administer medication for Members who request assistance (e.g., eye/ear drops)
- Remove sutures and/or replace bandages from Members upon request
- Evaluate wounds and make referrals (e.g., home health, physician, emergency room)
- Arrange blood draws on Tuesday mornings and obtain MD via email/fax
- Consult with family members regarding any medical issues or concerns as needed
- Monitor technology and ensure daily response to any unusual occurrences
