Qualifications

• Proof of successful completion of education requirements for board certified registered nurse as defined by the state in which the employee is to practice and proof of licensure in good standing.
• 5 years’ experience as a Registered Nurse is preferred.
• Ability to read analyze and interpret documents, reports, technical procedures, governmental regulations and correspondence.
• BLS required.
• Certification for UM nurse and CDI specialists is encouraged.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate utilization management processes to evaluate medical necessity and appropriateness.
• Collaborate with physicians, nursing staff, HIM, and coding staff to ensure accurate documentation.
• Support precertification and education efforts for physicians and staff.
• Participate in rounding on nursing floors and advise precertification staff.
• Promote continuity of care and cost-effective medical outcomes.
