Job summary

River's Edge Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center is seeking a professional nurse leader to oversee an assigned unit with administrative and clinical responsibilities. You will collaborate with the nursing team to ensure continuous care, staff management, and program development for resident welfare.

The role emphasizes leadership, protocol development, quality assurance, and coordination with interdisciplinary teams to maintain high standards of care.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited school of nursing.
• Minimum one year of leadership experience (head nurse, supervisor, etc.).

Responsibilities

• Utilize leadership to manage an assigned unit.
• Coordinate with Director of Nursing to ensure safe 24/7 coverage.
• Develop and evaluate unit protocols and standards.
• Assess staff performance against job descriptions and care goals.
• Discipline when necessary per policies.
• Motivate staff to perform to full potential.
• Provide guidance to professional and support staff.
• Lead shift meetings and coordinate interdisciplinary communication.
• Attend requested committee meetings.
• Cover weekend/holiday nursing administrative duties.
• Contribute to quality assurance and quality improvement activities.
• Identify educational needs and plan staff development programs.
• Demonstrate and evaluate clinical nursing skills.
• Collaborate with the team to meet resident care goals.
• Initiate resident-centered team meetings and problem-solving.
• Serve as a role model in delivering direct resident care.
• Ensure MDS completion on the unit.
• Assist discharge planning with residents and families.
• Communicate effectively with other modalities regarding continuity of care.
• Develop programs to facilitate continuity of care on transfers.
• Pursue independent study to improve managerial and clinical skills.
• Prepare written reports and data collection as indicated.
• Adjust staffing to cover evening and night shifts.
• Oversee daily staffing assignments.
• Participate in committees as requested.
• Submit budget requests.
• Supervise and evaluate clerks as assigned.
• Participate in staff recruitment and interviews.
• Ensure safety and adherence to codes and plans.
• Provide high-quality, compassionate resident care.
