Job summary

Dept of Veterans Services in Virginia is seeking a RN Unit Manager to lead a nursing unit with 24‑hour accountability. You will ensure quality patient care, staff development, and adherence to policies. The role requires strong clinical skills, leadership, and collaboration with HR and other departments.

Licensed as a Registered Nurse in Virginia, CPR certified, and with prior long-term care or geriatric leadership experience. Salary range reflects market rates for state roles and benefits.

Qualifications

• Excellent clinical knowledge and skill to assess and develop patient care plans.
• Demonstrated ability to coordinate, delegate, communicate and problem solve.
• Ability to supervise and evaluate both patient care and staff performance.
• Ability to instruct and train patients and staff.

Responsibilities

• Provides staff with frequent, constructive feedback and interim evaluations.
• Maintains safety and a healthy workplace through risk assessment and actions.
• Oversees unit operations with 24-hour accountability for assigned unit.
• Develops treatment plans and ensures timely care plan updates and discharge summaries.
• Collaborates with nursing staff and other departments to ensure quality patient care.
• May serve as charge nurse or weekend supervisor as needed.
• Performs other duties within the Nursing department as required.
