Job summary

Sunset Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Boonville, NY, is seeking a full-time RN Unit Manager to oversee the clinical operations of an assigned nursing unit, ensure high-quality resident care, regulatory compliance, and strong staff supervision within a collaborative team.

You will lead assessments, care planning, documentation, and interdisciplinary rounds, coordinate admissions and discharges, and mentor staff to promote a compassionate, resident-centered environment across day shifts.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in nursing required or higher.
• NYS RN license required.
• 1 year of RN experience in long-term care required.
• 3–5 years of LTC experience with supervisory experience preferred.
• Strong knowledge of resident assessments, care planning, and LTC regulations.
• Leadership with ability to supervise, coach, and mentor staff.
• Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Oversee clinical care and daily operations of an assigned nursing unit.
• Supervise nursing staff, nursing assistants, rehabilitation aides, and unit support staff.
• Conduct resident assessments and ensure care plans are implemented and followed.
• Monitor resident conditions and communicate changes with providers, families, and the inter-disciplinary team.
• Review provider orders, lab results, incident reports, and quality indicators.
• Participate in care plan meetings, family meetings, QAPI activities, and rounds.
• Coordinate admissions, discharges, transfers, outside appointments, and resident services.
• Ensure accurate documentation, medication management, and regulatory compliance.
• Support staff education, orientation, coaching, and performance management.
• Monitor infection control, immunization tracking, resident safety, and quality initiatives.
• Address resident, family, and staff concerns; promote a positive care environment.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Associate Degree in Nursing required; Bachelor's Degree preferred
• Valid NYS Registered Nurse (RN) License required
• Minimum 1 year of RN experience in a long-term care setting required
• 3-5 years of long-term care experience with supervisory experience preferred
• Strong knowledge of resident assessments, care planning, and long-term care regulations
• Leadership experience with the ability to supervise, coach, and mentor staff
• Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills
• Ability to coordinate care across multiple disciplines and manage competing priorities
• Experience with quality improvement, infection prevention, and regulatory compliance preferred
• Commitment to providing compassionate, resident-centered care
