Job summary

Betsy Ross Nursing Home & Rehab Center is seeking a Registered Nurse Unit Manager to supervise clinical and personnel issues on the Long-Term Unit. You will coordinate resident care, develop care plans, and ensure compliance with state regulations in a supportive, team-focused environment.

The role requires an RN or LPN with NY licensure and supervisory experience, strong clinical knowledge, and commitment to elderly and disabled residents. Expect weekday hours with some flexibility as needed.

Qualifications

• Must be graduate of an approved school of nursing.
• Minimum Bachelor's Degree in Nursing or three (3) years’ experience in long term care.
• Current licensure in NYS as a Registered Professional Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse.
• Minimum three (3) years’ supervisory experience in healthcare.
• Strong desire to work with elderly, chronically ill, and disabled.
• Knowledge of medical, social, and psychological needs of residents.
• Ability to act calmly in emergencies and communicate clearly with staff.
• Computer literacy is required.

Responsibilities

• Provide supervision, guidance, and direction to staff on the unit.
• Coordinate resident care with State DOH regulations.
• Develop and communicate plan of care for each resident.
• Oversee daily unit operations including ADL assistance, meals, and medication administration.
• Assign tasks to CNAs and monitor performance and documentation.
• Communicate with interdisciplinary team about resident needs and safety.
• Orient new nursing staff and assist with duties as needed.

Registered Nurse Unit Manager, RN Job Summary

• Monday - Friday; Flexible Hours (Primarily Day Shift)
• Alternate hours or occasional weekend availability

The role of the Registered Nurse Unit Manager, RN is to perform professional supervision, guidance and direction to staff in both clinical and personnel issues on the Unit. The Nurse Unit Manager is a qualified Registered (RN) or Licensed Professional (LPN) Nurse responsible for the development and maintenance of nursing practice and standards consistent with the overall philosophy of the facility. The Nurse Unit Manager represents the Nursing Department to other departments and coordinates the services provided by other departments.

• Registered Nurse Unit Manager, RN perform professional supervision, guidance and direction to staff in both clinical and personnel issues on the Long-Term Unit.
• Registered Nurse Unit Manager, RN coordinates resident care in accordance with State DOH regulations.
• Provide support to resident/families in dealing with clinical issues and challenges.
• Ensure staff adheres to safety and infection control guidelines.
• Assist in establishing daily operations of resident care on unit. This includes but not limited to showers/baths, toileting, meal, medication administration and activities.
• Communicate to other members of the Interdisciplinary Team pertinent information to assure resident/family needs are met.
• Perform daily rounds of all residents on the unit.
• Perform assessments on residents as required by the facility - Admission, Elopement, Pain, etc.)
• Develop plan of care for each resident. Document and communicate plan of care on Resident Information Sheets.
• Ensure Assessment: Document clinical observation and assessment on all assigned residents per regulations. Report findings of ongoing observations/assessments to the designated Nursing Supervisor. Document effectiveness of plan of care.
• Prepare resident assignments for Certified Nursing Assistants, considering the category of needs of the patient and competency of personnel.
• Communicate ongoing resident, family and facility plan/concerns/information to staff.
• Registered Nurse Unit Manager, RN will organize, oversee and supervise assigned unit activities and staff assignments. Provide a Nursing Assistant assignment for each CNA on his/her team. Communicate to CNA pertinent resident care needs. Monitor and evaluate the flow of activity and delivery of patient care provided by the CNA’s (turning and positioning, mealtimes, bathing, etc.) Ensure CNA documentation records (ADL’s BM, Meal intake, etc.) are completed.
• Registered Nurse Unit Manager, RN will communicate to the Interdisciplinary Team members any pertinent resident findings.
• Registered Nurse Unit Manager, RN will assist other staff members in completion of their duties. Orient new Nursing personnel as assigned.
• Perform other related duties as required and assigned.

Requirements

• Must be a graduate of an approved school of nursing.
• Minimum Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing or three (3) years’ experience in long term care
• Current licensure in NYS as a Registered Professional Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse,
• Minimum three (3) years’ experience in a supervisory capacity either in a hospital, long term care facility, or other related medical facility, training in rehabilitative and restorative nursing practice.
• Must have a sincere desire to work with the elderly, chronically ill, and disabled.
• Must have a thorough knowledge of medical, social, and psychological needs of residents.
• Must utilize good judgment in emergency situations.
• Must possess a spirit of cooperation and enthusiasm in order to create an atmosphere conducive to rehabilitation and growth.
• Must be able to communicate well verbally with residents, families and staff.
• Must be able to handle emergencies with calm and intelligent response.
• Must have computer literacy.
