Job summary

Community Health Systems, Inc. is seeking an RN Charge to oversee a nursing unit during assigned shifts, ensuring high-quality patient care.

You will supervise nursing staff, coordinate care with healthcare teams, and ensure compliance with hospital policies while fostering a positive work environment and supporting professional development. The role requires 1-2 years of clinical nursing experience, state or compact licensure, and BLS certification, with ACLS preferred.

Qualifications

• 1-2 years of clinical nursing experience required.
• RN license in state or compact licensure.

Responsibilities

• Supervises and supports nursing and support staff, delegating tasks as appropriate.
• Evaluates staff performance, providing coaching to maintain high standards of care.
• Oversees assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient care.
• Collaborates with interdisciplinary teams to coordinate care and manage patient flow.
• Ensures effective communication among physicians, patients, families, and hospital departments; manages handoffs and unit huddles.
• Monitors patient flow, bed assignments, and resource utilization within the unit.
• Conducts rounding to evaluate care delivery and satisfaction.
• Ensures adherence to safety standards, infection control, and policies; addresses non-compliance.
• Participates in quality improvement initiatives and audits to improve outcomes.
• Maintains supplies and utilizes resources cost-effectively; promotes ongoing staff education.
• Leads infection prevention efforts and staff training on PPE and sterilization protocols.
• Responds to unit emergencies with leadership and direct care as needed.
• Performs other duties as assigned and maintains regular attendance.
• Complies with all policies and standards.
