Sanford Health in Sioux Falls seeks a registered nurse to handle patient inquiries via telephone, assess symptoms using triage protocols, and guide patients to the appropriate level of care. This role schedules appointments, documents triage data in health records, and maintains up-to-date patient information while educating callers on health considerations.

A nursing degree and an active RN license are required, with preferred AACN/ACEN/NLN CNEA accreditation exposure.

Formación

• Graduate from an accredited nursing program; Bachelor's Degree in nursing preferred.
• One year of healthcare experience preferred.
• RN license in the state of practice; telephone nursing requires license in patients' states.

Answers patient inquiries over the telephone, assessing the severity of the patient's symptoms and medical needs according to triage algorithms.

Job Description

Guides the patient to the appropriate level of care; schedules patient appointments over the phone with appropriate healthcare providers/facilities/physicians. Documents information provided to patients during triage in health record systems; records patients health conditions for follow-up patient care. Maintains and develops triage protocols; ensures patients' healthcare information updated on time. Role does answer inquiries through multiple variations of technology, depending on department. Educate patients based on calls that come in.

Qualifications

• Graduate from an accredited nursing program preferred, including, but not limited to, American Association of Colleges of Nursing (AACN), Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN), and National League for Nursing Commission for Nursing Education Accreditation (NLN CNEA). Bachelor's Degree in nursing preferred.
• One year of healthcare experience preferred.
• Currently holds an unencumbered RN license with the State Board of Nursing where the practice of nursing is occurring and/or possess multistate licensure if in a Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) state. Nurses performing nursing practice over the telephone require licensure in the states where the patients being served reside. Within first 30 days of employment, all requirements to obtain license needed for role is completed. Obtains and subsequently maintains required department specific competencies and certifications.
