Job summary

Medasource is seeking an experienced RN for Med/Surg at Corpus Christi Medical Center in Corpus Christi, TX. You will care for 4–6 patients per shift, perform standard nursing skills, and document in Meditech while collaborating with the care team.

Unit details: 8 inpatient beds plus 8 admission beds, rotating weekends, day and night shifts, with patient ratios up to 6:1. Acute med/surg or telemetry background preferred.

Qualifications

• Acute med/surg experience 1+ years within the last year.
• Ability to care for 4-6 patients at a time.
• Acute med/surg experience 2+ years within the last year (preferred).
• Ortho or neuro-surgery or Med/Surg/Telemetry background (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Care of med/surg pts.
• Standard nursing skills: IV insertions, catheter care, medication administration.
• Documentation in EHR (Meditech).
• Collaborate with care team to coordinate patient plan.

• Number of Beds – 8 inpatient beds + 8 admission unit beds typically but occasionally flex up to 12 inpatient beds depending on overall hospital census
• Number of Staff – 10
• Type of staff:
  • Day Shift – 1 chg, 2 rn, 1 pca
  • Night Shift – 1 chg, 2 rn, 1 pca
• Patient Ratios – maximum 6:1
• Type of equipment – standard
• EMR – meditech
• Unit currently consists of Med/Surg Pts

Skill Set Most recruited for:

Must have:

• Acute med/surg experience 1+ years within the last year
• Ability to care for 4-6 patients at a time

Preferred or nice to have:

• Acute med/surg experience 2+ years w/in the last year
• Would prefer RN's w/ortho or neuro-surgery background. Med/Surg/Telemetry background would suffice.

• Standard nursing skills: IV insertions, urinary catheter insertion/maintenance, central line maintenance; medication administration; communication with all members of care team; documentation in EHR
