Job summary

Boston Medical Center is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) to join the Surgical Step Down unit. This 38-bed unit provides care for intermediate-level surgical patients. As an RN, you will deliver high-quality, patient-centered care and support the nursing organization’s mission, contributing to health equity.

The successful candidate will have an active RN license, a nursing degree, and at least one year of experience. Competitive pay and a supportive work environment focused on professional development are offered.

Qualifications

• Active or pending Massachusetts Registered Nurse (RN) license or ability to obtain one.
• Minimum 1+ year RN experience preferred.
• Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS). Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) required for certain units.
• Ability to obtain a BSN within 4 years.
• Relevant clinical experience and/or specialty, with certification required for certain practice areas.
• Physical ability to meet job responsibilities.

Responsibilities

• Deliver nursing care in the Critical Care unit, including assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, evaluation, and education of patients.
• Communicate effectively with healthcare team members, patients, and families.
• Coordinate and delegate appropriate patient care activities to inter-professional colleagues.
• Update and manage patient records and enter/comprehend computerized data.
