Doctors United Surgery Center is seeking an RN Surgical Coordinator to oversee all aspects of surgical scheduling and perioperative operations within the Orthopedic & Podiatry Service Lines. This role partners with surgeons, nursing leadership, materials management, and vendors to ensure efficient, safe, and cost-conscious patient care.

The ideal candidate will have 3–5 years of perioperative nursing experience in orthopedic or podiatry settings; hold an active RN license in Texas (or eligible

Qualifications

• Active RN license in Texas or compact state.
• BSN from accredited nursing program preferred.
• 3–5 years perioperative nursing in orthopedic or podiatry service line.
• Knowledge of surgical instrumentation, equipment, and procedures across orthopedic/podiatry.
• Leadership, organizational and critical thinking skills.
• Current BLS and ACLS certification or willingness to obtain.
• CNOR certification preferred.
• Proficient in MS Office.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and oversee surgical scheduling and perioperative operations.
• Collaborate with surgeons, nursing leadership, materials management and vendors.
• Verify resource availability and instrument/implant readiness.
• Plan cases, manage preference cards and coordinate specialty needs.
• Serve as clinical resource for OR staff and physicians.
• Identify capital equipment needs and coordinate training.
• Ensure fiscal responsibility and cost-saving initiatives.
• Develop and enforce policies compliant with regs.
• Mentor OR Circulators and Surgical Technologists.
• Troubleshoot equipment to minimize schedule disruptions.
• Maintain knowledge of techniques and instrumentation.
• Participate in QAPI and EDGE requirements coordination.
• Promote safety culture and staff education.
