Job summary

United Surgical Partners International, Inc. seeks an RN Surgical Coordinator to oversee all aspects of surgical scheduling and perioperative operations within the Orthopedic & Podiatry Service Lines at Doctors United Surgery Center.

The role serves as a clinical resource for surgeons, staff, and vendors, aiming for efficiency, safety, fiscal stewardship, and high quality of care. The coordinator collaborates with OR leadership, coordinates resources, leads case planning and equipment readiness,

Qualifications

• RN license current in Texas (or compact state eligibility).
• Graduate of accredited Nursing School; BSN preferred.
• 3–5 years perioperative nursing experience in ortho/podiatry; leadership/coordination experience preferred.
• In-depth knowledge of surgical instrumentation and equipment across ortho/podiatry.
• Strong leadership, organizational and critical thinking skills.
• Ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams in a fast-paced environment.
• Current BLS and ACLS certification (or willingness to obtain prior to employment).
• CNOR certification preferred.
• Computer literacy with MS Word and Excel.

Responsibilities

• Collaborates with surgeons, Director of Nursing, OR Charge Nurse, Materials Management, and vendors to plan and execute cases.
• Review schedules to confirm availability of resources and ensure instruments, equipment and implants are prepared.
• Participate in case planning, preference card management, and coordination of specialty service needs.
• Serve as primary contact for physicians and surgical staff, escalating specialty needs to leadership.
• Identify capital equipment needs with surgeons and perioperative staff and coordinate in-services and training.
• Partner with Administrator to monitor fiscal resources and identify cost-saving initiatives.
• Assist in policies, procedures and standards of care in compliance with regulatory requirements.
• Provide mentorship and act as a clinical resource for OR Circulators and Surgical Technologists.
• Troubleshoot equipment and supply issues to minimize disruptions to schedules.
• Maintain knowledge of surgical techniques and instrumentation relevant to service lines.
• Participate in QAPI activities and EDGE requirements and coordinate with QAPI program coordinator.
• Promote teamwork and safety culture; participate in staff education and competency assessments.
