Job summary

Mercy Medical Center Redding, a 266-bed regional hospital, is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) to deliver compassionate, high-quality care across inpatient and outpatient settings. You will perform assessments, implement care plans, and collaborate with an interdisciplinary team to support patient recovery.

The ideal candidate holds an Associate degree in nursing, California RN license, and BLS certification; one year of acute care experience is preferred.

Qualifications

  • Associate degree in nursing from an accredited program.
  • Current California RN license required.
  • 1 year acute care experience or equivalent nursing practice.
  • Current BLS certification through the American Heart Association.
  • Verbal and written communication skills and computer skills required.

Responsibilities

  • Performs routine physical/psychosocial assessment and documents care plans.
  • Formulates a plan of care and participates in routine transitional health care planning.
  • Adapts education to patient and family during care delivery.
  • Ensures efficiency in care delivery and prioritization of immediate needs.
  • Makes independent clinical decisions based on education and experience.
  • Advocates for patient rights and seeks conflict resolution.

  • Performs routine physical/psychosocial assessment to collect basic data: follows the written plan of care, standards, practice guidelines, utilizes pathways, which includes notifying physicians as appropriate
  • Formulates a plan of care for individual needs, including patient population needs. Participates in the planning of routine transitional health care needs (i.e. treatment options, patient placement options)
  • Adapts planned educational programs and information to individual patients and family by modifying teaching strategies or content. Integrates education during the delivery of patient care
  • Ensures efficiency in the delivery of care to determine immediate priorities and to offer solutions for problems
  • Makes independent clinical decisions based on knowledge drawn from education and experience
  • Actively advocates for patient rights and identifies potential conflict. Seeks counsel for resolution of conflict

Job Requirements

Minimum Requirements:

  • Associate degree in nursing from an accredited school of nursing required
  • 1 year recent acute care experience and/or previous nursing practice experience
  • Current California RN license required
  • Verbal and written communication skills and computer skills required
  • Current BLS certification required (must be certified through the American Heart Association)
  • If operationally able, will consider training opportunities for those with less than 1 year of acute experience
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing from an accredited school of nursing preferred
