Job summary

Mercy Medical Center Redding is seeking a Registered Nurse to deliver high-quality, compassionate care across interdisciplinary teams in a fast-paced hospital setting.

The role requires strong assessment, critical thinking, patient-centered care, and ability to adapt education for patients and families. For success, you should have CA RN licensure, BLS, and ACLS, with 1–3 years in acute care/telemetry or step-down units.

Qualifications

• 1-3 years may consider training with 1 year continuous recent (within 1 year) experience in Medical Surgical area if operational considerations exist.

Responsibilities

• Performs routine physical/psychosocial assessment to collect basic data and notify physicians as appropriate.

• Communicates plan of care and changes to the interdisciplinary team and to patient and family.
• Makes independent clinical decisions based on knowledge from education and experience.

• Performs routine physical/psychosocial assessment to collect basic data: follows the written plan of care, standards, practice guidelines, utilizes pathways, which includes notifying physicians as appropriate.
• Formulates a plan of care for individual needs, including patient population needs. Participates in the planning of routine transitional health care needs (i.e. treatment options, patient placement options).
• Adapts planned educational programs and information to individual patients and family by modifying teaching strategies or content. Integrates education during the delivery of patient care.
• Communicates patient's plan of care and significant changes to all members of the interdisciplinary team (using SBAR hands off reporting) and to the patient, family and significant others.
• Makes independent clinical decisions based on knowledge drawn from education and experience.
• Actively advocates for patient rights and identifies potential conflict. Seeks counsel for resolution of conflict.
