Job summary

Mercy Medical Center Redding is actively seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) to join a high-acuity care team. You will perform comprehensive assessments, develop and adjust plans of care, and deliver patient-centered education within an interdisciplinary environment.

This role requires a California RN license, an Associate Degree in Nursing (BSN preferred), and certifications including BLS, ACLS, and PALS. On-site hospital setting with a focus on quality outcomes and patient advocacy.

Qualifications

  • Associates of Nursing from an accredited school and one year of critical care experience within the last five years.
  • Registered Nurse in California at time of hire.
  • BLS/CPR required at hire.
  • ACLS required at hire.
  • PALS required at hire.

Responsibilities

  • Performs routine physical/psychosocial assessments following the care plan and guidelines.
  • Forms a plan of care and participates in routine transitional health care planning.
  • Modifies patient education to individual needs and delivers education during care.
  • Communicates the plan of care and significant changes to the interdisciplinary team, patient, and family.
  • Makes independent clinical decisions based on education and experience.
  • Advocates for patient rights and seeks resolution in conflicts.

  • Performs routine physical/psychosocial assessment to collect basic data: follows the written plan of care, standards, practice guidelines, utilizes pathways, which includes notifying physicians as appropriate
  • Formulates a plan of care for individual needs, including patient population needs. Participates in the planning of routine transitional health care needs (i.e. treatment options, patient placement options)
  • Adapts planned educational programs and information to individual patients and family by modifying teaching strategies or content. Integrates education during the delivery of patient care
  • Communicates patient's plan of care and significant changes to all members of the interdisciplinary team (using SBAR hands off reporting) and to the patient, family and significant others
  • Makes independent clinical decisions based on knowledge drawn from education and experience
  • Actively advocates for patient rights and identifies potential conflict. Seeks counsel for resolution of conflict

  • Bachelors Of Nursing from an accredited school of nursing and One year experience in recovering openheart patients, trauma patients and incaring for patients on IABP, CVVH, upon hire
  • Critical RN Adult/Neonatal/Pediatric/Acute, within 24 - months
