Job summary

Join Cleveland Clinic Main Campus in Cleveland, OH as an RN in the Cardiothoracic OR weekend flex team. You will work with a dedicated group performing complex cardiothoracic procedures using advanced techniques and equipment.

You will assist with scrub and circulating duties, provide patient care from admission through discharge, and enjoy a schedule that includes two 12-hour weekend shifts plus one weekday shift, with full-time benefits.

Qualifications

• Graduate from an accredited school of professional nursing (ADN or BSN).
• Current state RN license required.
• BLS certification through AHA or Red Cross.
• ACLS certification within 6 months of hire.
• One year RN experience or Cleveland Clinic perioperative residency.

Responsibilities

• Deliver professional nursing care in an operative setting for adults and children.

Caregivers in theCardiothoracicORuse their in-depth experience to perform complex operations withthe newest surgical techniques,equipmentand devices, including minimally invasive, off-pump bypass, robotically assisted and percutaneous procedures.As an RN on this team, you willassistfellow caregivers in delivering exceptional care, frominitialintroduction to discharge. In this role, you will interact directly with patients,familiesand visitors, offering the opportunity to enhance their experience and supply healthcare information as needed.

This RN position is part of Cleveland Clinic’s Weekender Flex Program and will require you to work two 12-hour shifts per weekend and one 12-hour day shift during the week. While you are only working36 hoursa week, Cleveland Clinic will payyou for44 hoursof work and give you full-time status and benefits. This schedule allows caregivers to enjoy personal time during the week with family and friends and take care of any errands that will not interfere with a typical day shift schedule.

A caregiver in this position works weekend days (Saturday and Sunday) + one day shift during the week from 6:00 a.m. – 6:30 p.m. Orientation will be completed Monday - Friday from 6:00 a.m. – 2:30 p.m.

A caregiver who excels in this role will:

• Deliver professional nursing care in an operative setting to adult and pediatric patients undergoing surgical or other invasive procedures.

• Perform scrub functions, such as selecting and handling instruments and supplies.

• Perform circulating functions, such as monitoring, recording and communicating patient condition and managing the overall nursing care of patients before, during and after the procedure.

• Assist the operating physician with surgical tasks, such as hemostasis, suturing, wound exposure and patient positioning.

• Prepare the Operating Room, surgical instruments and surgical equipment for use.

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

• Graduate from an accredited school of professional nursing (ADN or BSN program)

• Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN)

• Licensed military RN experience will be considered

• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) through American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross within 6 months of hire
• One year RN experience required or completion of Cleveland Clinic perioperative residency program.

Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

• Bachelor of science in nursing (BSN)
• OR experience in circulating and scrubbing

Physical Requirements:

• Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting patients, manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination. Requires standing and walking for extensive periods of time.
• Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
• Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Light Work.

• Occasionally lifts and carries items weighing up to 25 pounds and ability to push, pull, and navigate supply carts weighing > than 75 pounds periodically.

Personal Protective Equipment:

• Follows Standard Precautions using personal protective equipment as required for procedures.
