Job summary

Gateway Post Acute in California is seeking an experienced Weekend RN Supervisor to join our clinical leadership team. You will oversee day-to-day nursing operations on weekends, mentor staff, and ensure resident-centered care meets the highest standards.

Under the direction of the Director of Nursing, you will conduct rounds, coordinate care, administer medications per orders, and support regulatory compliance while maintaining teamwork and communication across the care team.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
  • Current and unrestricted California RN license.
  • Current CPR/BLS certification.
  • Two or more years of nursing experience preferred, ideally in a skilled nursing or long‑term‑care facility.
  • Previous supervisory or nursing leadership experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of PointClickCare or another electronic health record system preferred.
  • Strong clinical assessment, leadership, communication, and problem‑solving skills.
  • Ability to make sound decisions and manage changing priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and coordinate resident care throughout the assigned shift.
  • Provide direction, education, and support to LVNs, treatment nurses, CNAs, and other nursing employees.
  • Conduct clinical rounds and ensure timely responses to residents' needs and call signals.
  • Complete skilled nursing assessments and monitor changes in residents' conditions.
  • Administer medications, treatments, and IV therapy in accordance with physician orders and facility procedures.
  • Communicate changes in condition and significant findings to physicians, families, and the Director of Nursing.
  • Coordinate and respond to medical emergencies.
  • Assist physicians and other healthcare providers during visits and examinations.
  • Ensure physician orders are accurate, current, signed, and communicated to all appropriate departments.
  • Oversee the development and implementation of resident care plans.

Gateway Post Acute is seeking an experienced and dependable Weekend RN Supervisor to join our clinical leadership team. This is an excellent opportunity for a confident Registered Nurse who enjoys supporting staff, coordinating resident care, and ensuring the highest standards of clinical excellence.

The RN Supervisor oversees the day-to-day nursing operations during the assigned shift. Working closely with the Director of Nursing and Assistant Director of Nursing, this position provides hands‑on clinical leadership while promoting teamwork, accountability, and exceptional resident‑centered care.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Supervise and coordinate resident care throughout the assigned shift.
  • Provide direction, education, and support to LVNs, treatment nurses, CNAs, and other nursing employees.
  • Conduct clinical rounds and ensure timely responses to residents' needs and call signals.
  • Complete skilled nursing assessments and monitor changes in residents' conditions.

  • Coordinate preparations for new admissions and ensure resident needs are communicated to the care team.
  • Verify that ordered laboratory specimens are obtained, results are received promptly, and physicians are notified as required.
  • Collaborate with pharmacy, laboratory, therapy, and other ancillary providers to ensure timely services.
  • Review and investigate incidents to ensure documentation is accurate and complete.
  • Complete audits of medication carts, medication rooms, clinical documentation, and nursing practices.
  • Monitor infection prevention and control practices.
  • Assist with staffing assignments and identify coverage needs.
  • Counsel, coach, educate, and support employees to maintain or improve performance.
  • Participate in new‑hire orientation and ongoing employee training.
  • Assist with disciplinary action when necessary.
  • Participate in nursing quality assurance and performance‑improvement initiatives.
  • Assist with regulatory surveys and inspections as requested.
  • Promote cooperation and communication among residents, families, nursing staff, physicians, and other members of the interdisciplinary team.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Physical Requirements

This position requires frequent standing, walking, reaching, pushing, pulling, talking, and hearing. The employee may be required to lift or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Minimal travel may be required.
