Job summary

Southwest Louisiana Veterans Home in Jennings, LA is seeking an experienced RN Supervisor A to lead nursing staff and coordinate care for residents. This full-time government role offers benefits, stability, and the chance to impact veterans’ well-being daily.

The role requires an active Louisiana RN license (or compact) and relevant RN experience. Responsibilities include staffing, rounds, QA audits, and cross-department coordination to ensure high-quality resident care.

Qualifications

• Louisiana RN license or temporary permit or NLC/eNLC license to practice as RN.
• Three years RN experience; OR a Bachelors in nursing with two years RN experience; OR a Master's in nursing/public health with two years RN experience; OR a Doctorate in nursing/public health with one year RN experience.
• Ability to direct care delivery, supervise nursing staff, and ensure 24-hour resident coverage.

Responsibilities

• Plans and directs the care delivery of all residents on a unit.
• Receives shift report and reassesses staffing coverage for optimal care.
• Collaborates with other shifts to provide 24-hour resident support.
• Reviews work orders and coordinates transfers for resident health needs.
• Completes RAI and inputs MDS data into the system.
• Supervises and evaluates staff performance in resident care delivery.
• Makes recommendations on staffing, discipline, and discharge when needed.
• Conducts Quality Assurance audits as assigned by Nursing Administration.
• Prepares scheduling with Director of Nurses and handles attendance issues.
