Job summary

Louisiana Veterans Homes in Monroe, LA seeks a Registered Nurse to provide first-line supervision of nursing services within a large 156-bed 24-hour facility. Appointment type is WAE/PRN with shift differentials and hourly premium pay.

Responsibilities include transmitting physician orders, regular patient rounds, and administering medications. Eligible candidates must hold a Louisiana RN license (or NLC/eNLC) and meet the degree/experience options listed.

Qualifications

• Current Louisiana RN license or temporary permit or multi-state NLC/eNLC license.
• Must have one of: 1 year of RN experience, or a bachelor's degree in nursing, or a master's degree in nursing/public health.

Responsibilities

• Receive physicians' instructions and ensure orders are transmitted to other units as needed.
• Make regular patient rounds to assess physical conditions, document treatment, and nursing observations.
• Administer medications (oral/IM), start IV therapies, and perform necessary medical tests when needed.
• Provide specialized nursing care (ventilative care, special equipment, triage, or multiple system failures).
• Admit patients or receive patients after nursing assessment and initial treatment planning.
