The Emergency Department is a 53-bed unit equipped to handle various emergencies, including trauma, with approximately 10% trauma-related cases. Sentara Norfolk General Hospital is the region’s first Magnet Hospital, a 525-bed facility, serving as a primary teaching hospital and home to the only Level 1 Trauma Center within a 126-mile radius. The hospital includes four intensive care units and a 112-bed Nationally Ranked Heart Hospital.
