Suffield House Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center is seeking an RN Supervisor/Charge Nurse to oversee nursing operations in a 128-bed skilled nursing setting in Suffield, CT. The role ensures policy adherence, staff supervision on assigned shifts, and medical oversight, with attention to emergencies and physician communication.

The ideal candidate will hold CT RN licensure, have geriatric/rehabilitation experience, be CPR certified, and proficient with MS Office.

Qualifications

• Registered Nurse licensed in the State of Connecticut.
• Minimum of one year of education or experience in geriatric nursing or rehabilitation preferred.
• CPR certified.
• Ability to read, write and comprehend English; ability to follow oral and written instructions.
• Fluent knowledge of the MS Office suite and other office equipment.
• Ability to work hours as scheduled based on the requirements of the position assignment.

Responsibilities

• Directs and enforces nursing policies and procedures with staff, families, and visitors.
• Supervises and coordinates activities of nursing personnel on assigned shift to maintain continuity of nursing care.
• Resolves work related complaints of charge nurses and CNAs during assigned shift.
• Makes rounds on nursing units to ensure maximum care and to ascertain condition of residents.
• Responds to emergencies within the facility and provides medical oversight.
• Verifies that all clinical changes are reported to the physician and physicians’ orders as needed.
• Pre-admission reports on new residents.
• Ensures a safe environment for residents and staff.
• Ensures documentation on medical records is complete and accurate; conducts chart audits.
• Ensures supplies and equipment availability; reports malfunctions.
• Assumes supervisor responsibility on 2nd/3rd shifts and weekends; RN Supervisor or Charge Nurse.
• Audits emergency drug cart and crash cart; counts controlled medications.
• Manages IV policy and peripheral IV initiation; updates policy annually.
• Assigns nursing personnel in emergencies to maintain patient care hours.
• Assists in recruitment, selection and orientation of nursing staff.
• Completes 90-day and annual employee performance reviews when directed.
• Returns medications to the pharmacy in a timely manner.
• Attends Medicare meetings for resident certifications.
• Attends meetings such as Fall Risk, Restraint, Wound Care, Weight Loss.
• Assumes other duties as assigned by DNS/ADNS.
