Job summary

Palm Springs Healthcare Center seeks a Subacute Unit DON Coordinator to assist the Director of Nursing in planning, coordinating and managing nursing care and health education for residents and patients in the Subacute Unit.

The role emphasizes ensuring quality care, supervising nursing staff, and maintaining accurate charting and regulatory compliance. It also involves participating in staffing decisions and staff development under DON guidance.

Qualifications

• Registered Nurse, Bachelor of Science in Nursing, with minimum 2 years experience in skilled nursing and/or subacute care.
• Minimum of 1 year experience in management or supervision in skilled nursing or subacute care.
• Proficient in computer

Responsibilities

• Assist in ensuring Subacute Unit’s nursing and respiratory staff provide quality resident/patient care meeting standards.
• Assist with recruiting, orientation, training, and retention of staff in the Subacute Unit.
• Schedule nursing staff and perform rounds to monitor care quality and appropriateness.
• Maintain proper charting and documentation of care and medications in the Subacute Unit.
• May contribute to quality assurance, infection control and staff development in the Subacute Unit as directed by the DON.
• Help develop and implement staffing plans and nursing schedules reflecting resident needs.
• Complete required forms and documents per policy and regulations in the Subacute Unit.
• Adhere to scope of practice limitations based on qualifications in the Subacute Unit.
• May perform patient care duties in the Subacute Unit as needed and directed.
• In the absence of the DON, duties may be delegated to this position in the Subacute Unit.
