Job summary

Johnston-Willis Hospital, part of HCA Healthcare, seeks a Nurse Extern student to join the nursing team in the Intermediate Care Unit. You will gain hands-on experience as you explore the RN role, delivering safe, compassionate care while building skills and confidence for advanced responsibilities as you progress in your nursing program.

You will assist with ADLs, monitor vital signs, and learn under supervision, with opportunities to engage in learning and growth within a large healthcare

Qualifications

• Nursing students actively enrolled in an accredited RN program.
• Basic CPR/BLS certification required within 30 days of start.

Responsibilities

• Provide essential patient care including ADLs, vital signs, mobility, and hygiene.
• Perform nursing tasks such as wound and catheter care, specimen collection, and basic procedures.
• Document care accurately and communicate updates with the nursing team.
• Help patients and families understand care plans and recovery guidance.
• Maintain clean, safe patient areas following infection prevention practices.
• Engage with supervisor to build a personal career development plan.
