Job summary

Johnston-Willis Hospital, part of HCA Healthcare, is seeking an RN Student Nurse Extern to gain hands-on experience in the Medical Care Unit. You will learn under supervision while contributing to safe, compassionate patient care as you progress through your nursing program.

You will assist with ADLs, vital signs, wound care, and documentation, while staying aligned with infection prevention practices and patient safety standards.

Qualifications

• CPR/BCLS certification required within 30 days of start date.
• Active enrollment in an accredited RN nursing program.
• No prior work experience required.

Responsibilities

• Assist with activities of daily living and vital signs, maintaining patient comfort and safety.
• Perform basic nursing tasks as skills develop, including wound and catheter care.
• Document care and communicate updates to the nursing team promptly.
• Explain care plans to patients and families and support recovery guidance.
• Maintain clean, safe patient areas and follow infection prevention practices.
• Engage in growth opportunities and collaborate with your supervisor on career development.
