Johnston-Willis Hospital, part of HCA Healthcare, is seeking a Nurse Extern to join the Surgical Care Unit in Richmond, VA. You will gain hands-on experience as you explore the Registered Nurse role and deliver compassionate care under supervision.

You will assist with ADLs, vital signs, wound care, documentation, and patient education while developing clinical skills and a personal career plan.

Qualifications

• BLS must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date.
• Active enrollment in an Accredited Nursing Program (RN).
• No previous work experience required.

Responsibilities

• Provide essential patient care including ADLs, vital signs, mobility, and hygiene.
• Perform nursing tasks such as wound care, catheter care, and specimen collection.
• Document care and communicate updates with the nursing team.
• Explain care plans to patients and families and support recovery.
• Keep patient areas clean and safe, following infection prevention practices.
• Engage in learning opportunities and develop a personal career plan with supervision.
