Job summary

Willis-Knighton-Health-System in Shreveport, LA is seeking a Stroke Data Specialist to collect, abstract, analyze, and report stroke-related clinical data to support quality initiatives and regulatory compliance.

The role collaborates with the Stroke Coordinator, nursing leadership and physicians to monitor performance measures and drive improvements in patient care. Strong proficiency in EHRs and Microsoft Office is essential.

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree in nursing required.
• 2+ years of clinical experience preferred; stroke registry data abstraction and quality reporting experience preferred.
• Knowledge of The Joint Commission Stroke Certification standards preferred.

Responsibilities

• Abstract and enter patient data into stroke registries (GWTG Stroke and other regulatory reporting systems).
• Review medical records for completeness, accuracy, and compliance with stroke care standards.
• Monitor and analyze stroke performance metrics and quality indicators.
• Assist in preparing reports, dashboards, and trend analyses for leadership and regulatory agencies.
• Identify opportunities for process improvement and collaborate with clinical staff to implement corrective actions.
• Support stroke certification and accreditation activities, including survey preparation and documentation.
• Ensure timely submission of data to state, federal, and accreditation agencies.
• Conduct data validation audits and maintain data integrity.
• Educate staff on stroke measures, documentation, and performance improvement.
